The Power of Connection
September is National Suicide Prevention Month, a time to bring awareness, reduce stigma, and provide support to those struggling with suicidal thoughts. Amidst the many strategies and resources available, one of the most powerful tools we have is connection.
Connection is a fundamental human need. It’s the thread that binds us to others, providing a sense of belonging, love, and understanding. For someone grappling with suicidal thoughts, feeling connected to others can be a lifeline. We’ve provided some local opportunities for connection and community below:
Sound Therapy Hosted by Maroon Arts Group (family friendly and free)

A free concert series that began in the yards of neighboring elders during the pandemic. Now, it is The Sound Therapy Concert Series! We are back at MPACC BoxPark starting this and every Sunday in September 4p - 7P, so get ready for live performances from some of your amazing and favorite artists.

The Grief Club (Free, Registration Required)

Mission: To create a nurturing environment where men, women, and children can collectively navigate grief, foster restoration, growth and healing. TGC is dedicated to facilitating discussions, sharing healthy coping strategies, and connecting our community with essential resources, complementing therapeutic support. Through our shared space, TGC aims to empower individuals on their authentic journeys of grief, promoting impactful connections within our community.

A safe haven for Black Women and WOC navigating how to heal after surviving domestic and sexual violence. Healing sessions allow Black women and WOC to have the space to be vulnerable while leaning on other women who have similar experiences.
