Self-Rediscovery

As the seasons shift and the leaves fall, November reminds us that change is a

natural part of life. Just as autumn brings transformation, life often throws us

curveballs that can leave us feeling disconnected from who we are. It’s easy

to get caught up in the roles we play as a student, parent, partner, or

employee until one day we look in the mirror and wonder, Who am I really?

Whether it’s a major life transition, a career change, a relationship ending, or

just the daily grind wearing us down, we can lose sight of ourselves along the way. However, losing touch with yourself doesn’t mean you’re lost forever. In fact, it’s part of the human experience.

Why We Lose Ourselves

When life becomes overwhelming, we often enter survival mode, focusing on

managing responsibilities and pushing through each day. In doing so we

neglect our most vital relationship which is the one with ourselves. It’s normal

to question our values and interests during challenging times. Instead of

viewing this confusion as a crisis consider it an opportunity to rediscover the

parts of yourself that may have been overshadowed.

Tools for Self-Resdiscovery

You might consider exploring what brings you joy and energy as you begin

this journey. Reconnect with old passions that you may have set aside.

Journal regularly to explore your thoughts and feelings, seek solitude to

reconnect with your inner voice, ask trusted friends for their insights about

your strengths, embrace the changes you’re experiencing, and finally, set new

achievable goals to regain a sense of direction and purpose. After all,

November is the perfect time to “fall” into self-discovery.

Rediscovering yourself after life’s challenges is an ongoing journey. It’s normal

to feel lost at times, but what truly matters is how you choose to respond. By

taking time to reflect, explore, and reconnect, you can find clarity and rebuild

an identity that aligns with your current self.

In moments of searching for clarity, you might resonate with these lyrics from

my song "Find You Again":

"I've been looking for a sign point me in the right direction,

infection inside because I cannot hide,

I lost a part of me, fog the glass wipe and you'll see

I'll find you again, cause I've cried out all my tears

and I made it here, and I will find you again."

This journey takes patience, but the person you’re meant to be is always

within you, waiting to be discovered. Stay curious, be kind to yourself, and

trust that this process is part of your growth.
